Education & Health Rights Petitions

The right to education was elevated to a fundamental right under Article 25-A of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 following the 18th Amendment, which guarantees free and compulsory education to all children aged 5 to 16 years. The right to health, while not explicitly listed as a fundamental right, has been read into Article 9 (right to life) through expansive judicial interpretation by the Supreme Court. Our firm litigates education and health rights cases to hold the State accountable.

Despite the constitutional guarantee, millions of Pakistani children remain out of school due to inadequate infrastructure, teacher shortages, poverty, and social barriers. We file petitions seeking directions to provincial governments to allocate sufficient funds, establish schools, and enforce compulsory attendance. Our cases have addressed ghost schools, teacher absenteeism, and discriminatory admission policies.

In the healthcare domain, we petition courts to enforce the State's duty to provide accessible and affordable healthcare. Our cases include challenges to the privatization of essential health services, inadequate funding for public hospitals, shortage of medicines, and denial of emergency medical care. We have also litigated cases involving maternal mortality and access to clean drinking water.
